Supportive care, Palliative care and Hospice services for Coastal


The Squamish General Hospital (SGH) has an outpatient Basic Community Chemotherapy Service: Level II, which is directly affiliated with the British Columbia Cancer Agency (BCCA) and the Lion’s Gate Hospital (LGH) chemotherapy clinic.

The SGH out-patient chemotherapy clinic provides:


          IV, SC and oral chemotherapy treatments, Tuesday to Thursday


          Chemotherapy-related education


          Symptom management


          Management of central venous access devices

The SGH chemotherapy clinic staff includes:

          General Practice physicians with a special interest in oncology who work in collaboration with oncologists at BCCA and LGH

          BCCA chemotherapy certified Registered Nurses

          SGH pharmacist and staff who prepare and dispense chemotherapy drugs and other medications and are available for consultation and medication education if required

          Other support services may include dietician, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, home nursing care, home support and palliative care

Information on cancer related topics and issues can be accessed at the SGH clinic, the local library, the BCCA library and website, and the Cancer Society.

The SGH chemotherapy clinic is open Monday to Friday 0800-1530, and is closed weekends and statutory holidays.
